General
What exactly is Studo?
Studo is an all-in-one study platform for students. Instead of switching between flashcard apps, note apps, planners and search engines, you'll find everything in one place: Studosets and Visualsets for active studying, Classrooms for collaboration, Flow to track your subjects, and SVEN, our AI coach, to help you where needed.
Who is Studo for?
Primarily for students in higher education, but anyone who wants to learn is welcome. From secondary school to university, from medicine to law to computer science — Studo is built to work with any subject and any study style.
What's the difference between Studo and other flashcard apps?
Flashcards are just one part of Studo. You also get Visualsets (ideal for anatomy or geography), a full tracking system via Flow, shared learning environments via Classrooms, and AI support via SVEN. It's not a standalone tool, but an ecosystem that grows with your studies.
What languages is Studo available in?
We currently support Dutch, English, French and Spanish. We're working on more languages and actively listen to which ones our community needs most.
Is there a mobile app?
Yes, we have an iOS app so you can study on the go. An Android version is on our roadmap.
Studosets & Visualsets
What are Studosets?
Studosets are term-definition pairs you can study in different ways. You can use them via Learn (spaced repetition that keeps testing you until you know everything), Time Attack (speed mode with rounds), or classic Flashcards. Every mode adapts to your level.
What makes Visualsets unique?
Visualsets are designed for visual subjects like anatomy, biology and geography. You upload an image, place pins with definitions on it, and study via two modes: Identify (you type what the pin represents) or Point (the system gives a definition and you indicate the correct pin). Perfect for memorising structures and locations.
How do I quickly create a Studoset?
You have several options. Enter terms one by one manually, import from a Word document or Excel file, or simply via copy-paste. For maths subjects there's Math Mode which correctly renders LaTeX formulas. You can also add images to your terms.
What is Health Mode during studying?
Health Mode reminds you every 20 minutes to stand up for 2 minutes and look outside — the 20-20-2 rule. A small detail that makes a big difference for your eyes and back during long study sessions. There's also a built-in pomodoro timer for those who work in intervals.
Can I make my sets public or private?
Your choice. Public sets are findable via our search function, which is handy if you want to share with fellow students or contribute to the community. Private sets are only visible to you or the people you invite.
Classrooms & studying together
What are Classrooms?
Classrooms are shared learning environments where you can study, practise and share material together with others. There are three types: Official Classrooms (linked to a school or teacher), Study Groups (private groups with friends or project partners), and Communities (open public groups around a subject or topic).
How do I join a Classroom?
For Official Classrooms and Study Groups you usually receive an invitation or a code from the organiser. Communities are open — find them via the search function and join directly.
Can I see how others are progressing in a Classroom?
In Classrooms and Study Groups you can optionally see each other's progress and statistics, which is motivating for studying together. You can always turn this off entirely via your privacy settings — you decide what you share.
What are competitions and challenges?
Within Classrooms and Study Groups someone can start a study competition that others can join. Ideal for memorising material together before an exam with a touch of competition.
If my teacher creates a Classroom, can they see my performance?
In an Official Classroom your teacher or professor can follow your progress to give targeted feedback. This is communicated transparently and is tied to the Classroom itself — outside that context your statistics remain yours.
Studo Flow
What is Studo Flow?
Flow is our tracking system to visually manage your learning process. Organised by academic year, by subject and by learning activity. Think of it as a smart, visual version of the spreadsheet many students use to track what they've already covered — but with direct links to your studosets and visualsets.
How does Flow work in practice?
Flow is built from three layers: Flowboards (your study year or semester), Flowcourses (each subject) and Flowrows (concrete learning activities like a lecture or exercise). During class you quickly type a title and press Enter — done. At home you can structure things: update status, set priority, link resources.
Is Flow suitable if I'm not a planner type?
Absolutely. Flow is deliberately designed for both power users and students who do minimal planning. Entering a title is enough to get started. All extra fields like priority, type or deadline are optional. You can make it as simple or as detailed as you like.
How do I see my progress?
At two levels. Per subject you see a progress bar at the top of the table view showing how many items you've completed. On the overview of your Flowboard each Flowcourse appears as a card with a compact progress bar — one glance and you know where you stand for each subject.
SVEN & Studo Select
What is SVEN?
SVEN is our AI coach and is part of Studo Select, the premium version of the platform. SVEN helps you get from course material to studyable content faster — think automatically generating Studosets from documents, or quickly looking something up in your course.
Can SVEN automatically create sets from my course?
Yes. You upload a PDF or Word document and SVEN generates a Studoset with terms and definitions. You always stay in control — you can review, edit and give final approval to the AI output before the set is finalised. We never publish anything automatically.
What is course linking?
When you link a course to a Studoset, a 'Check course' button appears next to each term that takes you directly to the relevant section. No more searching through hundreds of pages. You can also semantically search your uploaded courses by keywords or phrases.
Is AI-generated content always correct?
AI sometimes makes mistakes, which is why you always see a disclaimer to review the output. We work with human review steps and a feedback loop where you can rate every AI output. Always verify important content yourself before studying with it.
Courses & Verified Sets
What are Studo Courses?
Studo Courses are pre-built learning paths curated by the Studo team itself to ensure quality. A Course (for example Medicine) consists of multiple Tracks — modules around a specific topic or exam — each linked to relevant subjects and verified sets.
What does the Verified badge mean?
Sets with a Verified badge are created or reviewed by the Studo team, have proven 95%+ accuracy on exams, or are approved by a teacher. Verified sets get priority in search results and are featured on subject pages.
Can I become a Verified creator?
Yes. If your sets meet the criteria, you receive Verified creator status. Benefits: Studo Select for free, a spot on the leaderboard of top creators, and in later phases a revenue share for popular sets.
Account & privacy
How do I create an account?
You can register with your email address, Google account or Microsoft account. It takes less than a minute and you have immediate access to the platform.
Can I delete my account?
Of course. In your account settings you'll find the option to permanently delete your account. All your data will then be deleted in accordance with our privacy policy.
What about privacy in Classrooms?
You decide what you share. Comparing progress and sharing statistics are optional and can be fully disabled via your settings. You can also set separate privacy preferences per Classroom.
I forgot my password, what now?
Click 'Forgot password' on the login page, enter your email address and you'll receive a reset link. Also check your spam folder if the email doesn't arrive immediately.
