Terms of Use

Last updated: January 8, 2026

Welcome to STUDO! These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the STUDO platform, including our website, apps, and related services (collectively the "Service"). By using STUDO, you agree to these Terms.

Please read these Terms carefully. Don't agree? Then you may not use the Service.

1. About STUDO

STUDO is a digital study platform that helps students learn more effectively. We offer tools such as studosets (flashcards), visualsets (visual learning), and various study modes.

STUDO is operated from Belgium. Questions? Email support@studo.study.

2. Creating an account

Certain features require an account. Upon registration you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Keep your login credentials safe and confidential
  • Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access
  • Be responsible for all activity under your account

You must be at least 16 to create an account. Under 16? Then you need permission from a parent or guardian.

3. Acceptable use

You may only use STUDO for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may not:

  • Use the Service for illegal or unauthorised purposes
  • Upload harmful, offensive, or rights-infringing content
  • Attempt to hack, disrupt, or interfere with the Service or servers
  • Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools without permission
  • Impersonate someone else
  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Use the Service for spam or unsolicited messages
  • Upload viruses, malware, or other harmful code
  • Circumvent security measures or access restrictions

We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these rules.

4. Your content

You can create and upload content (studosets, visualsets, notes, etc. — "Your Content"). You remain the owner.

By uploading you grant STUDO a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display, and process Your Content — solely to provide the Service to you. We do not sell or share Your Content with third parties for their own purposes.

You are responsible for Your Content. You warrant that:

  • You own or have the right to use and share Your Content
  • Your Content does not infringe the IP rights of others
  • Your Content does not violate any laws or these Terms

We may remove content that violates these Terms without notice.

5. Shared & public content

STUDO lets you share or make study material public. When sharing:

  • You grant other users permission to view and use your shared content
  • You remain the owner of your content
  • You can change sharing settings or remove content at any time
  • Others may have already copied your content before you remove it

Respect others' work. Do not claim shared content from others as your own.

6. Intellectual property

STUDO and its original content (excluding Your Content), features, and functionality are owned by STUDO and protected by copyright and other IP laws.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of our Service or software, nor reverse-engineer or attempt to extract source code — unless the law prohibits this or you have our written permission.

The name STUDO, logo, and branding are trademarks of STUDO. Do not use them without our prior written permission.

8. Availability

We aim for 24/7 availability but cannot guarantee it. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to:

  • Scheduled maintenance (we try to notify you in advance)
  • Unexpected technical issues or bugs
  • Circumstances beyond our control (server issues, internet outages)

We are not liable for any loss or damage caused by interruptions.

9. Disclaimer

STUDO is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties. We do not guarantee that:

  • The Service meets your specific requirements
  • The Service is error-free or uninterrupted
  • Content on STUDO (including user content) is accurate or reliable
  • Using STUDO guarantees academic success

STUDO is a study tool, not a substitute for attending classes, completing homework, or meeting your school's requirements.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, STUDO is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including:

  • Loss of data or content
  • Loss of profit or revenue
  • Academic results or exam outcomes
  • Interruptions or downtime

Our total liability is in any case limited to the amount you paid us (if applicable) in the 12 months prior to the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply. In that case our liability is limited to the maximum permitted by law.

11. Indemnification

You indemnify STUDO and its operator against claims, damages, losses, or costs (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your Content
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of another party's rights

12. Termination

You can stop using STUDO and delete your account at any time via your settings or by contacting us.

We may suspend or terminate your access immediately, without notice, if:

  • You violate these Terms
  • Your conduct harms other users or the Service
  • We are legally required to do so
  • We discontinue the Service (with reasonable notice)

Upon termination your right to use the Service ends immediately. Provisions that logically survive (such as ownership, disclaimers, and liability limitations) remain in effect.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For significant changes we'll let you know via email or a clear notice before they take effect.

Continuing to use STUDO after changes = agreement with the new Terms. Don't agree? Stop using the Service.

14. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by Belgian law. Belgian courts have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes.

Are you a consumer in the EU? You retain the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country of residence. You may also use the EU online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

15. Miscellaneous

  • Entire agreement: These Terms, together with our privacy policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and STUDO.
  • Severability: If any provision is invalid or unenforceable, the rest remain in effect.
  • No waiver: Failure to enforce a right does not mean we waive it.
  • Assignment: You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may.
